About

Welcome to Lazareti - where the most beautiful encounters happen.

Lazareti are the only fully preserved quarantine complex on the European side of the Mediterranean, under the protection of UNESCO since 1994.

Funnily enough, we opened Kavana Lazareti in 2020, during a quarantine era of our time.  Although it was challenging, thanks to you – our guests, we opened our doors again this season for the fourth year in a row, and we only plan to continue providing you with the most delicious experience in Dubrovnik.

UNESCO heritage site

376 years of history

Kavana Lazareti is located on the terrace of the historic Lazareti (eng. Lazarettos). They are situated by the eastern City gate near the City Walls, at the intersection of main land and naval trade routes. Lazareti were built from 1627 until 1647, and their significance was confirmed in 1724 when they were declared an integral part of the City’s fortifications. The complex resembles the City Walls, and consists of the plateau and ten naves (halls) with five inner courtyards. Today, Lazareti are the creative hub of Dubrovnik: various exhibitions, concerts, workshops, congresses and other events are organized in the five western naves.
